Our history in Central America

Cargill entered the frozen food business by diversifying its concentrated food business into the live chicken production, processing and commercialization business (PRONORSA) in Honduras back in 1975. Ever since, Cargill has continued expanding its business through various acquisitions.

1969

Cargill acquires a majority interest in “Alimentos Concentrados Nacionales.”

1978

Cargill acquires “Productos Norteños”, a poultry business in Honduras.

1986

Cargill acquires “Embutidos Delicia”, a processed meats local business

1999  

Cargill acquires “Cinta Azul Ltd.”, a processed meats local business.
 

1999

Cargill acquires “Embutidos Perry”, a Guatemalan local business.
 

2000

Cargill acquires “Tip Top Industrial”, a Nicaraguan poultry business.
 

2001

Cargill acquires “Purina,” a renowned brand based on its quality in animal nutrition.
