"Cargill is my family and school. It has given me the opportunity to develop and grow both personally and professionally, while job stability has enabled me to ensure the welfare of my family."

Since I joined the company in 1986, I have heard “Safety First” from management and employees themselves. Indeed, the company at all times prioritizes the physical safety and security of our employees and contractors, even if it is necessary to stop activities and operations to correct a problem.

Describe your work responsibilities and the importance of your role.

I manage various Human Resources for our businesses in Venezuela, including developing and implementing policies, rules and procedures, as a way to foster a strong culture, promote the welfare of our employees and ensure compliance with the laws and collective agreements of the different businesses and business functions.

Describe your day-to-day activities and the skills needed to perform well.

I plan, coordinate and manage processes and activities in different areas, providing support and advice to the different businesses and functions. To do this, I need leadership skills, negotiation skills, knowledge of labor laws and the collective agreements of the company, accounting skills, awareness of environment policies, and more.

Describe your career path. Where did you start and how did you get to where you are today?

I started my career at Cargill as a student trainee in the first office acquired by Cargill in Venezuela, located in the city of Maracaibo. Thanks to my efforts and commitment, Cargill offered me the opportunity to stay at the company as a permanent worker, assigning me the great responsibility of managing the company’s payroll. Taking advantage of my position and the opportunity it gave me, I started studying at night and, which led to me being promoted to Senior Technical Accountant. When the company began to expand into other cities 10 years later, I raised the possibility of transfer to the city of Valencia, to support the company with the centralization of payroll processes. During all these years I have occupied the following positions: Student Trainee, Assistant Payroll Analyst, Payroll Coordinator, Payroll Manager, Personnel Management, and my current position as HR Manager for three years. Also, once settled in Valencia, I continued my college studies, achieving a degree in Human Resources Management.

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

I gain confidence from doing a good job at Cargill, and I enjoy offering my services and growing professionally.

Why did you choose to join Cargill and what keeps you here? In other words, how has a career at Cargill helped you to thrive?

Joining Cargill was the result of good luck. But nearly 30 years later, I’m looking forward to retiring with this as my only experience and career, which has given me everything I have.

What advice would you give someone interested in a career at Cargill like yours?

I do not have to think twice: this is the best company to work for to find family stability and the best opportunities for development.

Share an interesting tidbit about yourself such as hobbies, volunteerism, favorite foods or activities, accomplishments inside or outside of work.

I consider myself a very friendly person; as an HR professional, I like helping people. I am fond of all sports, especially football, which I enjoy watching in the company of my three children. One of my favorite foods is pasta.
