Cargill Central America

Cargill entered the Central American region in 1969 with a 51% stake in an animal feed business in Honduras (ALCON). Today Cargill is a regional market leader. In 1975, Cargill entered the refrigerated foods business when it diversified its feed business into live chicken production, processing and commercialization.

Cargill has continued to expand its business across the Central American region.

In Central America, Cargill has two business units:

  • Cargill Meats Central America, formed by the integration of leading companies in the fresh and frozen meat industry.
  • Cargill Animal Nutrition is a leader in the animal nutrition area, contributing to the developing productive sectors, such as cattle farming, aquaculture, poultry, pig and horse industry, as well as the pet food industry.
